Ján Volko wants to forget about the unsuccessful performances at the Olympic Games in Tokyo as soon as possible. The Slovak sprinter presented himself at the games in runs of 100 and 200 meters, but in both disciplines he already finished in runs. He sees behind it a not very successful preparation, in which he was also limited by injuries.

Tokyo 2020: Ján Volko did not advance to the semifinals. I tried, but it just …
On Tuesday, Volko finished in the top two in his start-up on the fifth place with a time of 21.21 seconds, overall he put him in 42nd place. “I put everything into it, but I did not meet expectations.
I’m sorry I didn’t fix what happened in the hundreds. At the moment, I probably didn’t have more. But there is no need to be sad and no regrets, it is necessary to throw it behind your head and try to prepare for the rest of the season and then for the top events, “ stated the Slovak recorder after the race.
Twenty-four-year-old Volko had not previously advanced from the start-ups at 100: “Neither run was good, rather the question was worse. I went to 10.40 on a hundred, which should theoretically mean 20.80 on a two hundred, but it didn’t happen. It’s the way it is, it probably doesn’t. it makes sense to compare these runs. “
The Slovak sprinter suffered a minor injury at the PTS meeting, which then prevented him from leaning properly in preparation for the Olympics. He also missed more races. He had only five 200m runs on his account before the games: “I’m not running out, I had an outage due to an injury. We didn’t tune the form at the Olympics, we were just trying to kick it. It probably wasn’t enough. But I don’t blame anyone, it’s the way it is.”
Volko started his run well, but in the corner he just looked at the backs of his opponents: “Nothing happened, I probably ran out of energy. It wasn’t enough energy in this climate. I knew what I was going to do, but it’s always different if you’re already there. You need to learn from it.”
After the Colombian Baloyes did not appear at the start, Volko had a free track on his right hand, he did not agree on this fact: “If he was there, the contact would be closer and I might be able to lean into it better. But I don’t want to consider performance. I have my setup and that’s not what it was about. But it would definitely help.”
From the venue of the Olympics, however, he will take home the experience he would like to use in the future. “Since I didn’t have to be here at all, it’s a great experience and experience. I’m very grateful for that. I was looking forward to it, despite all the measures. It’s much better than I thought. It’s a great experience and I believe that some more Olympics will succeed, “ said Volko.
In the near future, he will perform in the Slovak league, where he wants to help his club. He would also like to fix his back, the pain in him has been bothering him for a long time: “We have to talk to the coaches about whether we’re going to deal with it or what. But I believe we’ll make the right decision.”
