DHF Cases in Bantul Decrease, Mosquito Eradication Continues

Harianjogja.com, BANTUL – The Bantul Health Office (Dinkes) confirmed that the number of cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in its area in 2021 will decrease. Nevertheless, the Health Office still asks residents to continue to be vigilant and maximize the eradication of mosquito nests and various efforts to prevent the occurrence of dengue.

“So far, the number of dengue cases reported is not as high as two years ago. And not as high as 2018,” said Head of Disease Control at the Bantul Health Office, Sri Wahyu Joko Santoso, Tuesday (3/8/2021).

However, the man who is familiarly called Oki is reluctant to detail the number of dengue cases in 2021, but he predicts there will be a decrease in the number of cases of the two diseases.

In fact, in 2020, the Bantul Health Office recorded that there were 1,137 cases of DHF. Of these, 4 people were declared dead of dengue. The four people consisted of Sewon District with 2 people, 1 person from Banguntapan and 1 from Kasihan.

Meanwhile, in 2019, there were 1,323 cases of dengue fever in Bantul, with 4 of them declared dead. While in 2018 there were 182 cases without deaths. While 2017, there were 538 cases with 2 deaths. In 2016 there were 2,442 dengue cases with 4 deaths.

Furthermore, Oki said that although there was a downward trend in dengue cases, his party hoped that residents would be more active in eradicating mosquito nests, namely through 3 M, draining places that are breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Closing places water reservoirs. And, reuse the waste of used goods that have the potential to become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

“For fogging, please do it as needed. If it’s not important, don’t do it. In this pandemic era, it is better to maximize the eradication of mosquito nests and clean and healthy living behavior,” he said.

In addition to DHF, Oki said, his party is also still anticipating the development of leptospirosis in the area. Because, although the figure is quite low, namely 80 cases with one death, the problem of leptospirosis should not be underestimated.

“Just like DHF, we also have to be aware of Leptospirosis. Don’t let it increase. For this reason, we continue to campaign for prevention efforts,” he explained.
