What they were all waiting for, namely a new version of Dev Channel for Windows 11, will not exist because the new operating system is almost ready.
There will be no new developer version of the world’s most popular operating system this week. However, there is something even better than that, namely, the first beta version that is now live. Microsoft recommends that everyone who is curious to install the dev versions.
For those who want a more stable platform, the technology giant recommends trying the Beta channel. Normally, this would mean a full reinstall, but for a limited time, you will be able to switch from the Dev channel to the Beta channel. Thus, to do this, you will need to access Windows Update, then the Windows Insider Program, in order to make the change.
The Windows 11 operating system is almost ready
One thing to keep in mind is that Windows 11 is still in development, and while beta versions should be fairly reliable and hassle-free, certainly more so than those built on the Dev channel, they’re not yet suitable for most users, to be able to install them on their system.
The three existing channels are:
- Dev Channel – for those who have advanced technical knowledge;
- Beta Channel – for those who want to benefit earlier operating system in the test variant;
- Review Channel – for those who need assistance.
If you are not running the Dev version, but want to try the beta version, you will still need to sign up for Windows Insiders. Fortunately, your computer will need to meet the required system requirements. The stable version of Windows 11 is expected to be provisionally scheduled for release in October this year.
