At DSM they were there early last week to reveal the Vuelta team. Romain Bardet and Jai Hindley looked like the classification men on paper.
But DSM is now changing the selection and leaving Hindley, the number 2 of the Giro 2020, at home. Another Australian, Chris Hamilton, has been named as Hindley’s replacement.
“After Jai had to leave the Giro with saddle pain, it remains uncertain whether that injury will not arise again in 3 weeks”, Team DSM reports.
“Jai’s schedule will now consist of short blocks that better suit his abilities. This will give him more time to rest and recover between matches.”
Hindley will start in place of the Vuelta in the Tour of Poland, the Brittany Classic, the Tour of Slovakia and the Tour of Lombardy.
