If an AirTag which has not been registered with your iPhone is permanently detected by the smartphone, a notification is sent which alerts the user of the detection: “AirTag has been detected moving with you”. Here is what it means.
If a notification pops up on your iPhone that says “AirTag has been detected moving with you,” you should check what you’re wearing – maybe they’re following you. It is one of the functions of the new devices to keep track of items such as keys, backpacks and other personal items that we can lose on a daily basis. But given their small size, AirTags can also be used maliciously to track someone. Fortunately, Apple has thought about this possibility as well and has activated a system that alerts potentially tracked users.
From there we come, in fact, to the notification. If an AirTag that has not been registered with your iPhone is constantly detected by the smartphone (so if it actually travels with you for a sufficient period of time), a notification is sent which alerts the user to the detection. : “AirTag has been detected moving with you”. In this case, there are two explanations: the system mistakenly detected the proximity of an AirTag or someone secretly slipped a device into your bag or pockets. Fortunately, once the notification has been received, it is easy to find the offending AirTag: all you have to do is select “Play” for the AirTag to emit a sound.
Once located, you can get more details about the device such as the serial number and contact of the owner, if they have decided to enter it. It is also possible to know if the user reported it as lost, which could indicate an error and not an attempted harassment. In any case, from the notification it is also possible to access the instructions for removing the battery and therefore deactivating the AirTag: just unscrew the white cover to access the battery. Apple recommends contacting the authorities if you think you are being tracked via an AirTag.
