(CNN Español) — As governments seek to mitigate the spread of the most communicable delta variant, efforts to boost vaccination campaigns are also advancing.
Currently, 28.3% of the world’s population already has at least one dose of the covid-19 vaccine. In South America, the average reaches 43.72% of the population, according to figures from Our World in Data.
How is vaccination going in Latin America
In accordance with Our World in Data, with cut to July 31, this is how some countries in the region are in terms of vaccination, according to the percentage of their population with at least one dose of the covid-19 vaccine:

By way of comparison with other countries in the world, Canada has 71.60%, behind Uruguay and Chile. Japan has 38.63% of its population at least partially vaccinated, less than, for example, Brazil and El Salvador. Australia currently reaches 32.84%, behind Mexico and Colombia.
Mexico
Some of the main tourist destinations in Mexico have reinforced measures to counteract the spread of covid-19 such as maximum capacity at beaches and hotels, time restrictions or the closure of nightclubs.
This is the case of Mazatlán, Cancun, Acapulco, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.

Argentina
Last week, Argentina began vaccinating minors between the ages of 12 and 17 with pre-existing conditions, according to the Health Ministry.
“Today 901,040 doses of the Modern vaccine begin to be distributed in all regions of the country, of the total of 3,500,000 that were donated to Argentina by the United States, to initiate the immunization of the population group 12 to 17 years old,” said the Government .
The Savior
On Saturday, El Salvador confirmed the first detected case of the delta variant in the country.
The president, Nayib Bukele, said that the first case was detected in a person who did not prevent from abroad, so the authorities suspect that the variant could take several days in El Salvador.
A couple of days earlier, Bukele reported that the Over 12 years old can already be vaccinated against covid-19 in the country.
