Southeast Asia Strengthens Cooperation in Tackling Breast Cancer

Desy Pujiarsi completed the manufacture of prosthetic breasts made of silicone at the Ilyarsi clinical laboratory in the Jombang area, South Tangerang, Banten, Friday (1/11/2019). Referring to data from the Ministry of Health as of January 31, 2019, the breast cancer rate is 42.1 per 100,000 population with an average death rate of 17 per 100,000 population.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – The number of breast cancer cases and deaths from the disease tends to be high in Southeast Asia. Therefore, cooperation between countries is also strengthened to increase public awareness regarding breast cancer to strengthen early detection efforts.

This was raised at the Southeast Asia Breast Cancer Symposium (SEABCS) 2021 or the Southeast Asian Breast Cancer Symposium which took place virtually. Indonesia will host the SEABCS which will be held on July 31 and August 1, 2021. The next SEABCS will be held in the Philippines in September 2022.
