Suara.com – Chip crisis semiconductors that hit the world have made it difficult to produce Mac and iPad Apple. Now, they are warning that the crisis is also spreading across the line iPhone production.
In a meeting with investors a few days ago, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the shortage of chips will affect the third quarter of this year. In the next period, the crisis also had an impact on iPhone production.
Cook explained that the affected chips were made with older technology. However, this technology is still needed as a support to make the company’s flagship device.
“We did have some shortcomings, where the demand was so great and beyond our expectations. So it was difficult to get the entire set of components in the planned time,” explained Cook, quoted from NDTV, Sunday (1/8/2021).

But Cook declined to predict whether the component shortage would continue into Apple’s fiscal first quarter. Because, that time is the biggest sales period for the iPhone.
Angelo Zino, an analyst with research firm CFRA, said Apple might be able to stockpile chips for its next-generation phones. But this effort could be detrimental to models currently still on sale.
“Apple will want as many chips as possible. But when combining it with existing supply, Apple will likely find it difficult to meet demand this year,” Zino explained.
