US to engage multiple countries to investigate Mercer Street tanker incident

State Department chief Anthony Blinken, during a telephone conversation with his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid, discussed the recent incident in the Arabian Sea on the Japanese tanker Mercer Street.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said Israel and the United States agreed to work with Britain, Romania and other international partners to investigate the facts, provide support and consider next steps.

Earlier it was reported that the Liberian-flagged tanker Mercer Street, owned by a Japanese company, was attacked.
