The National Police has issued a new regulation regarding the classification of a special driver’s license (SIM) for motorcycles. targeted, SIM C which is divided into three types will be enforced in August 2021.
The classification of this SIM is stated in Police Regulation (Perpol) Number 5 of 2021 concerning Issuance and Marking of a SIM which was ratified on February 19, 2021. According to the Head of Driver Standards for the Directorate of Regional Police of the National Police, AKBP Arief Budiman, it is targeted that this August, SIM C classification will be implemented.
There are three types of SIM C that will be applied, namely SIM C, CI, and CII. Third SIM C it is distinguished in the capacity of the cylinder contents of the vehicle. According to Police Regulation (Perpol) Number 5 of 2021 concerning Issuance and Marking of SIM Article 3 paragraph 2, the following is the classification of SIM C according to the capacity of the motor:
– SIM C, valid for driving a motorcycle type Ranmor with an engine cylinder capacity of up to 250 cc (two hundred and fifty cubic centimeters);
– SIM CI, applies to drive a motorcycle type Ranmor with an engine cylinder capacity of more than 250 cc (two hundred and fifty centimeters cubic) to 500 cc (five hundred centimeter cubic) or similar Ranmor that uses electric power;
– SIM CII, applies to drive a motorcycle type Ranmor with an engine cylinder capacity of more than 500 cc (five hundred cubic centimeters) or a similar type of Ranmor that uses electric power.
That is, riding a motorcycle with an engine capacity of over 250 cc must upgrade to a CI SIM. Meanwhile, owners of big motorbikes (MOGE) of 500 cc and above will be given dispensation. At least until 2022, riding a motorbike above 500 cc can use SIM CI.
AKBP Arief Budiman, said that the implementation of SIM C classification is still targeted for August 2021, although PPKM is still being applied. Currently, there is still something that needs to be prepared, namely the preparation of SOPs.
“But if we talk about the fixed target in August. Yes, it could be in the middle or the end of August. The point is that when it is implemented, there will be prior notification,” said Arief as quoted CNNIndonesia.com.
The cost of making SIM C, CI and CII remains the same. According to Arief, the cost of making the three classes of SIM C is contained in Government Regulation Number 60 of 2016 concerning Types and Tariffs for Types of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) Applicable to the Indonesian National Police.
In the attachment to the rules above, it is stated that the creation of a new SIM for SIM C is Rp. 100,000, SIM CI is Rp. 100,000, and SIM CII is Rp. 100,000. Meanwhile, for the renewal of the driver, the three drivers will be charged the same tariff, namely IDR 75,000 for SIM C, C 1, and C2. However, the above costs do not include the cost of health checks and insurance.
