The National Institute of Meteorology (INM) said on Saturday evening that the high temperatures exceeding 40 degrees in 20 synoptic stations (47 ° C in Medenine) recorded on Saturday, associated with atmospheric humidity favored the formation of storm cells in the north and the center.
The MNI clarified that these cells were accompanied by scattered rains which were in considerable quantities in a short period of time. According to a preliminary assessment, the largest quantities were recorded in Thala, in the governorate of Kasserine (8 mm).
The institute also said that the drop in temperatures during the coming hours will weaken the effect of thunderstorm cells and stabilize the weather overnight.
For Sunday, the MNI predicts a relative drop in temperatures in the north and center.
Temperatures will remain high in the south. Thunderstorm cells will remain active in some delegations of the center.
The wind will be moderate and the sea will be not very rough. Maritime activities and swimming are possible.
