Strange, but true, the most common word a nanny can say when talking about her job is forbidden for Maria Borrallo, babysitter of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis; and it is not the fault of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The Borrallo, in fact, nanny of the royal family already a few months after the birth of little George, who turned 8 on 22 July last, can’t pronounce the word “children” at all in front of the children of William and Kate, due to her training at the prestigious Norland College in Bath, in the South West of England, a high school for those who dream of becoming a super nanny one day, a bit like Mary Poppins.
According to author Louise Heren, who spent some time researching her own documentary at Norland College, students are taught never to say the word kids, while they are allowed to use the equivalent children (a synonym for children) and, of course, the first name of the little ones.
The explanation would be quite simple: “The word child (kid) is forbidden. It is a sign of respect for children as individuals, ”Heren clarified in an interview with the Mirror; however, there may be something more. While child is a term of British origin, used only to refer to children, kid, in addition to being of American origin, also indicates adolescent boys, mixing and superimposing two totally different stages in the formation of a young adult. In short, differences, not so subtle, that make the difference in a qualified babysitter like Borrallo at Buckingham Palace.
Louise Heren also stated that she had spoken to many nannies at the service of the various royal families and life for the future heirs to the throne is the same as that of many other British children: you get up early in the morning, have breakfast and then wear school uniform, whether you like it or not.
But there is also another fundamental rule that George, Charlotte and Louis must respect; it is absolutely forbidden to shout for them, just a nod is enough for the Duke and Duchess to seriously address the problem. William and Kate, in fact, instead of punishing and scolding their children, shouting in turn, sit next to them in the “chat sofa”, that is on a sofa that becomes a neutral place for conversation without ever raising the tone of their voice.
