Temporary Standings for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Medals, Saturday 31 July 2021 At 22.00 WIB: Indonesia is knocked out of the top 50 : Okezone Sports

TOKYO – The Chinese contingent still leads the medal standings Tokyo 2020 Olympics until Saturday (31/7/2021) at 22.00 WIB. Meanwhile, Indonesia was thrown out of the top 50 after failing to win a bronze medal from the badminton sport, to be exact at 53rd place.

Indonesia could actually improve their position if they were able to win a bronze medal from the men’s doubles badminton event represented by Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan. Unfortunately, Ahsan/Hendra failed to donate the bronze medal.

Ahsan/Hendra lost the match for third place against a pair from Malaysia, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik last night. The Daddies were defeated after struggling to play the third game, to be precise, they lost with a score of 21-17, 17-21, and 14-21.

Despite the Ahsan/Hendra failure, Indonesia has so far collected three medals consisting of one silver and two bronze.

The three medals were then donated from weightlifting through Windy Cantika Aisah (Bronze), Eko Yuli Irawan (Silver), and Rahmat Erwin Abdullah (Bronze).

Indonesia still has the opportunity to donate medals from badminton. Because the men’s singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting will still play the semifinal match and even the women’s doubles in the country, Greysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu will appear in the final match for the gold medal.

So, there is still hope for Indonesia to add medals before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics ends. Of course, Indonesia will not be able to catch up with China, which is currently at the top of the medal standings for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

China has recorded a total of 46 medals. The Bamboo Curtain country has already won 21 gold, 13 silver and 12 bronze.

Meanwhile, host Japan continues to try to approach China by being in second place. Japan was able to occupy the second position with a total of 30 medals, consisting of 17 gold, five silver, and eight bronze.

Then the United States, which initially had the lead, is now still stuck in third place with a total of 46 medals. The United States contingent had to settle for third place because it had 16 gold, 17 silver and 13 bronze.
