The National Police is planning to impose three types of distribution SIM C starting in August. Separated by engine cubication, this is a list of automatic motorcycles that drivers must have SIM C I.
It is not known exactly when the National Police will enforce the division of SIM C into these three different groups. However, on several occasions, the National Police mentioned August as the target for implementing the regulation.
“Our target in August can already be implemented,” said Head of Driver Standards Sub-Directorate of SIM Regident Police Korlantas, AKBP Arief Budiman, on the Yputtube NTMC account some time ago.
Classification SIM C, CI, and CII are distinguished in the capacity of the cylinder contents. As stated in Police Regulation (Perpol) Number 5 of 2021 concerning Issuance and Marking of SIM Article 3 paragraph 2 following the classification of SIM C according to the capacity of the motor:
- SIM C, valid for driving a motorcycle type Ranmor with an engine cylinder capacity of up to 250 cc (two hundred and fifty cubic centimeters);
- SIM CI, applies to drive a motorcycle type Ranmor with an engine cylinder capacity of more than 250 cc (two hundred and fifty centimeters cubic) to 500 cc (five hundred centimeter cubic) or similar Ranmor that uses electric power;
- SIM CII, applies to drive a motorcycle type Ranmor with an engine cylinder capacity of more than 500 cc (five hundred cubic centimeters) or similar Ranmor that uses electric power.
AKBP Arief Budiman also said that SIM CI, which is intended for owners of 250-500cc motorbikes, must be owned by the rider when this rule is officially enforced. While the CII SIM (for motorcycles 500cc and above) is given a dispensation until 2022.
In Indonesia, there are several automatic motorcycles whose owners must change their SIM type to SIM CI in August. The automatic motorbikes, of course, have a 250-500 cc cubication.
