It is the highlight of the season preparation for VfB Stuttgart. The Swabians will play a test match against FC Barcelona in their home Mercedes-Benz Arena on Saturday (kick-off at 6 p.m.). 25,000 spectators can watch the duel with the 26-time Spanish champions on site. Access to the stadium is only granted to those who have tested negative for Corona, have already been fully vaccinated or have recovered. Most recently, VfB around coach Pellegrino Matarazzo had won over Arminia Bielefeld 5-2 at the end of the summer training camp in Kufstein. With the Catalans, a much larger caliber is now waiting around a week before the start of the competitive game.

The Spanish top club will be participating in a training camp in Donaueschingen from July 28th to August 3rd and will be traveling to Swabia for a test. A small downer for the fans: As expected, superstar Lionel Messi, whose future has not yet been officially clarified, has not started the Catalans’ trip to Germany. And yet the team of coach Ronald Koeman has a highly decorated squad. For VfB there is a real yardstick before the first competitive game in the first round of the DFB Cup against BFC Dynamo.
