During the vacation time, the proportion of corona infections that German vacationers probably bring home from abroad increases. The RKI reported 3,662 cases. Most of the travelers were in Spain or Turkey.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) assumes that thousands of German vacationers abroad have contracted the corona virus. In its weekly status report, the RKI writes that between June 28 and July 25, 3662 such cases were reported. Most frequently, Spain, Turkey, the Netherlands, Croatia and Greece were named as likely sites of infection in the four weeks considered.
From Sunday on, a broader compulsory test
According to this, a particularly strong increase has been recorded for Turkey since mid-July. Here the number of cases recorded per week roughly doubled. France, Italy, Austria and Denmark are other popular travel destinations in the top ten of the list. The federal government is planning new entry rules from Sunday. With a broader test obligation, the spread of corona by people returning from vacation should be slowed down.
Most of them get infected in Germany
In its management report, the RKI also made it clear that the majority, namely at least 81 percent, of the corona infections continue to take place within Germany. In nine out of ten cases, the particularly contagious delta variant is now responsible for the infection. Such a development was suspected weeks ago.
According to the RKI, the seven-day incidence in Germany is currently increasing, especially among children, adolescents and young adults between 10 and 34 years of age. By far the highest values for the previous week were recorded for the subgroups of 15 to 19 year olds at 40 and for 20 to 24 year olds at 45. So far, people over 60 have been spared the significant increase, for whom the vaccination rate is higher than for younger people.
More Covid patients in hospitals again
The decline in hospital admissions with Covid-19 does not continue, according to the RKI. Instead, the proportion of patients with this diagnosis in all cases with severe respiratory infections rose slightly last week. The values are currently at a low level.
