Turkey first started using natural gas, which was produced in the Black Sea. President of the country Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this during the ceremony of burning the first gas produced from a test well on the Black Sea shelf in Sakarya province, reported yesterday Anadolu.
According to him, Ankara intends to significantly reduce its dependence on external supplies of blue fuel through the extraction of Black Sea gas.
“The wells that we drilled in the Black Sea are not the first or the last. With the start of production of the Black Sea gas in the near future, we will significantly reduce our dependence on foreign sources. hundreds of meters, “Erdogan said.
The head of state noted that Turkey carried out drilling work in the Black Sea, despite all attempts to prevent this with the help of sanctions, threats, blackmail and intimidation.
Erdogan also pointed out that thanks to the technical capabilities that Turkey has achieved in drilling, it has managed to end external dependence in this area.
“Previously, we carried out drilling work with international leasing companies. Now we carry out this work with the help of our own vessels and our own human resources,” he stated.
According to Erdogan, Turkey is currently making intensive efforts to begin the first phase of the development of the Black Sea gas by 2023.
We will remind, in June, Turkey opened in the Black Sea new major gas field with reserves of more than 135 billion cubic meters. It was discovered by the drilling ship Fatih in the Amasra-1 well in the Sakarya area.
And in August last year, Turkey opened in the Black Sea the largest field in the history of the country gas – 320 billion cubic meters.
