The UJA will recognize Santiago Ydáñez as ‘Natural of Jaén’ | Radio Jaén

The plastic artist from Jaén Santiago Ydáñez Ydáñez (Puente de Génave, 1967), will be recognized with the ‘Natural de Jaén’ project in its 2021 edition, for his extensive experience, inside and outside the province, in which he has drawn on the Jaen heritage legacy to project it through his work on the international art scene.

Ydáñez, Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Granada, has conducted workshops with important teachers from around the world and has received important distinctions such as ABC Painting Award in 2002, the 2002 Generation Painting Award from Caja Madrid and the 33rd BMW Painting Award in 2018.

His work is in prominent spaces such as the Botín Foundation in Santander, the Reina Sofía National Art Center Museum, the DKV Collection, the CAC in Málaga, the Sofía Ímber Museum in Caracas, the L’Oréal Collection, the ABC collection, the Centro Atlántico Museum of Contemporary Art in Las Palmas, the Chirivella Soriano Foundation in Valencia and the University of Jaén’s own collection of artistic heritage, which has three canvases.

The ‘Natural de Jaén’ award is framed within a consolidated project through which the UJA has distinguished different personalities from the world of science, culture and sport, will recognize for the first time the career of a painter, who acts as an ambassador for contemporary art created in Spain and who maintains a close relationship with the University of Jaén.

With this recognition, the UJA shows its desire to promote the projection of culture, understood as a knowledge transfer mechanism of the institution itself and as a territorial articulation formula.

Until now they had received this recognition from the university institution, the researcher José López Barneo, the cantaora Carmen Linares, the writer Juan Eslava Galán, the investigator Tomás Palacios Gutiérrez, The architect Luis Berges Roldán, businessman Luis Vañó, the investigator Francisco Herrera, the filmmaker Miguel Picazo, journalist Antonio Cano, the writer Fanny Rubio and the hochey grass players Carmen Cano Y Mary of the Angeles Ruiz.
