Neukirchen b Hl Blood.Fire brigades are called to provide technical assistance more and more often to rescue people or protect property. Fire brigades work in areas where there is a risk of falling, particularly in the event of storms or accidents in rough terrain.

So that the rescuers do not endanger themselves, there are now fall protection sets in addition to the normal fire brigade belt and fire line. In order to ensure that this equipment can also be used properly in an emergency, special courses on the subject of fall protection have been available in the Cham district for some time. On the past two weekends, the first of its kind took place in the Neukirchen fire brigade center near the Holy Blood in the Furth inspection area in the Wald-Hohenbogenwinkel. Over a total of three days, 13 firefighters from seven fire departments learned the basics of fall protection. The course was led by Matthias Börmel from the Arrach fire brigade, who is the district-wide training manager for fall protection. At the beginning of the course, he explained how far you can get with simple means such as a fire brigade rope and a fire brigade harness.

But here too there are limits. The topic of fall protection came up for the first time during the snow disaster in 2006. A lot has happened in the district since then. There were theory lessons on the first day of the course. The other two days of the course continued in practice. All stations were mastered with flying colors by the participants, which is why course director Matthias Börmel was able to present everyone with their course certificate in the presence of district fire chief Markus Hierstetter and Michael Gutscher.

The mayor and deputy district administrator Markus Müller also congratulated the participants. He was pleased that so many took part in the training. The subject of fall protection and safety in use is becoming more and more important, which is why such a course has been well invested in time. He also expressed his special thanks to the numerous trainers for the time sacrificed. (fmi)
