In particular, the report says that cases of the SARS-CoV-2 “Delta” coronavirus strain are growing in the United States, Great Britain, and EU countries. In addition, this virus is a more complex course of COVID-19.
According to American scientists, the Delta variant is spreading at an incredible rate and now accounts for more than 83% of all viruses circulating in America.
According to Dr. Rochelle Walensky, who spoke at a recent White House briefing by a spokesman for the COVID-19 Response Commission, the variant of the virus is much more infectious than the regular strain of coronavirus.
“This is one of the most infectious respiratory viruses that we know of and that I have seen in my 20-year career,” says the doctor.
The Ministry of Health recalled that vaccinations against COVID-19 effectively prevent a severe course of the disease and save lives.
Also, every Ukrainian has the opportunity to be vaccinated:
- at the nearest vaccination point;
- at the center of mass vaccination;
- or a mobile team will come to you (in organized groups of more than 50 people and people with limited mobility).
What is known about “Delta”
The strain has several mutations of the spike-like protein coronavirus, which contribute to its rapid spread.
As you know, people with underlying medical conditions were at greater risk of hospitalization.
Delta symptoms are slightly different from those of the original coronavirus.
Among the main symptoms are:
- headache,
- a sore throat,
- runny nose,
- fever.
