Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The number of foreigners leaving Indonesia has increased in the past month. At least tens of thousands of foreigners have left Indonesia since July 1st.
Class I Immigration Data Special for Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) Soekarno-Hatta Airport noted, there were around 16,790 Indonesian citizens who exited through the airport in the period from July 1-23. Head of Tikim Immigration at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Sam Fernando, explained that foreigners who left Indonesia came from various countries.
However, Sam did not reveal the reason or why the foreigners left the country of Indonesia. He also did not explain whether the foreigners used flights with chartered planes or not.
“The reason for our departure is unknown,” he told CNBC Indonesia, Tuesday (27/7/2021).
Here are 10 countries whose citizens are leaving the country in droves:
Japan
Sakura country became the country with the highest number, which was about 2,387 people leaving Indonesia in the period from July 1 to 23. Meanwhile, only 277 Japanese citizens who came to Indonesia during the same period.
Previously, the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta said that so far it was known that around 2,000 expatriates wanted to return to Sakura Country because of the head office’s instructions. The Japanese government facilitated the repatriation, by preparing a special aircraft.
A total of 2,056 Chinese citizens left Indonesia. However, in the same period, as many as 2,119 Chinese citizens returned to Indonesia.
So far, there has been no official announcement from China asking its citizens to leave Indonesia. This is different from a number of Japanese companies or the government of Saudi Arabia which specifically asked their citizens to leave Indonesia immediately.
South Korea
A total of 1,537 Ginseng citizens left Indonesia. There were only 389 South Korean citizens who returned to Indonesia.
Previously, there were around 80 South Korean citizens who were repatriated last week with the condition partially infected with the corona. The report from the South Korean Embassy in Indonesia as of July 22 noted that 288 people living in Indonesia have been infected with the corona virus and as many as 15 people have died.
