Tennis competition resumes after typhoon Nepartak interruption – Telemundo San Antonio (60)

TOKYO, Japan – The round of 16 tennis matches that were being played outdoors at the Olympic tournament have resumed an hour and 40 minutes after they were interrupted by the wind and rain that brought Typhoon Nepartak to Tokyo.

With the exception of the center court of the Ariake club, the only one that has a cover, Tuesday’s program had to be interrupted when the Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza and Sara Sorribes and the Argentine Diego Schwartzman, among others, had started to play.

Muguruza, seventh seeded, beat Belgian Alison van Uytvanck 3-0 in the first set, Sorribes lost by the same score against Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Schwartzman dominated the first set 2-1 against Czech Tomas Machac .

Only two games, those of the center court, were able to reach the end without interruptions. In the first, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas beat the American Frances Tiafoe by 6-3 and 6-4 and the second threw a great surprise: the Czech Marketa Vondrousova eliminated the local idol, Naomi Osaca, by 6-1 and 6-4.
