Örebro has been heavy this season, and acted earlier in the summer window by picking in two heavy reinforcements in Jiloan Hamad and Nahir Besara. Today, both new acquisitions were selected in the starting eleven for the first time – but Hamad was forced to throw in the towel on the warm-up and was replaced by Dennis Collander.
Just Collander would then give ÖSK the lead just under half an hour into the match. After Erick Otieno fell in the penalty area, the 19-year-old was given a free opportunity to shoot 1-0 for Örebro. The goal was Collander’s first in the Allsvenskan.
– Nice to get in the first goal. We got off to a pretty good start in the match with the goal. So it was nice, Collander told Discovery + at half time.
– We have talked a lot about getting into the box. The ball bounces a little anyway and so I was in place. That was nice.
AIK had several chances to net in the first half, but it was a black and white lead at half time of the match.
In the second half, AIK would then equalize. Nabil Bahoui reached the top corner and got a header that went into the crossbar and bounced down on the right side of the goal line to 1-1.
AIK was then the team that was at most to set a winning goal, but there would be no more goals in the match, which ended 1-1.
– It was not a good first half. We try in others, but it is not enough, I think, says Nabil Bahoui to Discovery + after the match.
The result means that Örebro remains as last in the table, with two points up to Mjällby in the qualifiers. AIK is fifth in the table.
In the next round, AIK will host Halmstad at home while Örebro travels to Uppsala to meet Sirius.
