Looking for missing person in Venneslafjorden – NRK Sørlandet – Local news, TV and radio

Just before 11.00 today, the emergency services were notified that a person was possibly missing in Venneslafjorden in Agder.

– The starting point was a report of a person who was 20 meters from land. He dug into the water and reported being worried, says operations manager John Repstad in the Agder police district.

He says that the reporter lost the observation. It is therefore unclear whether he has come ashore or had problems in the water.

Assets, including a towel, must be left on land.

The police write on Twitter that the person in question may have had problems due to strong current.

Asks bathers to get in touch

Two different observations of the person must have been made.

According to the police, these must have happened at 10.30 and 10.45.

The police ask people who have bathed in the bathing park around this time to get in touch.

Medical helicopters, divers, and surface vessels work on site.

The main rescue center in southern Norway is also involved in the search.

Demanding conditions

Transfer The Friend of the Fatherland operations manager Alexander Gormann describes the conditions as challenging.

A lot of current, as well as different depths in the water, make the conditions demanding.

They will now start searching on both shores of the fjord.

How long this will last depends on findings and tips from the public, he tells the newspaper.

Many drowning accidents

So far this summer has 24 people lost their lives in drowning accidents.

In June and July last year, 26 people drowned in Norway.

So far this year, there have been more drowning accidents than traffic accidents.
