Saudi Arabia announces that it will start allowing international pilgrims to carry out the Umrah starting August 10, 2021, which coincides with the Islamic new year 1443 H. Of course with the implementation of standard health protocols.
Besides that, Saudi Arabia also announced that it had reopened Islam’s holiest sites for performing Umrah after the end of the hajj season. This step was taken after the special pilgrimage for local pilgrims was completed.
“The Grand Mosque is ready to receive umrah pilgrims,” said the Deputy Head of Affairs of the Grand Mosque, Saad bin Muhammad Al-Muhaimid, quoted from Daily Star, Monday (26/7/2021).
In addition to implementing health protocols, pilgrims are also required to follow signs on the floor when performing Tawaf during the pandemic COVID-19.
The local government also allows all countries to send direct flights. However, there are some countries that are required to carry out a 14-day quarantine in a third country before arriving in the Kingdom.
These countries consist of India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Egypt, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, and Lebanon.
Other requirements that must be met are full vaccination or having received 2 doses of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccines.
“Dosage of Chinese-made COVID-19 vaccine with one booster vaccine injection from Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson is also permitted,” the report said.
