Stefan Nilsson had put himself in trouble after blocking 3 of 75 pigeons during Sunday’s first three qualifying rounds. Before the last two qualifying rounds on the night before Monday Swedish time, Trelleborg was in 18th place.
The conditions were simple and tough: only the top six after 125 pigeons would go to the skeet final.
– There is always a lot going on in the second day’s qualifiers, so it has not been run in any way. But it will require flawless shooting by me and that is of course the goal, Nilsson said after Sunday’s qualifier shooting.
It did not succeed Stefan Nilsson achieve. After hitting the first six pigeons in the fourth qualifying round, he blocked the seventh. Of course, Nilsson knew how costly that miss was and gave a frustrated impression the rest of that round, when he was noted for 24 of 25 hits.
The fifth and final qualifying round starts at 06.00 on Monday Swedish time and about 90 minutes later it is clear which six shooters will go to the final.
After four qualifying rounds, the American Vincent Hancock has shot full (100 out of 100). The five behind him have 99 hits. Stefan Nilsson is in 16th place with his 96 hits.
Stefan Nilsson came in 15th place in London 2012 and finished sixth in Rio 2016.
