An unusually large meteor was seen over much of southern Scandinavia last night and gave a powerful flash of light over eastern Norway. In addition, eyewitnesses heard a loud sound he made. The meteor appeared at 01.08.47 on the night of July 25 and was visible for about five seconds.
Preliminary calculations show, what he fell approximately between the communes of Mudum and Lier. The fall was seen, in particular, from the Norwegian capital Oslo and the city of Trondheim.
“The result of the analysis shows that the meteor does not seem to come from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, like most meteors. Almost all of its orbit is located inside the Earth, such celestial bodies are attributed to the Aton group,” – said in the message.
The meteor created a powerful shockwave that many felt. This shockwave was also detected by seismic stations when it hit the ground, which made it possible to determine the possible impact location, regardless of video surveillance.
No injury or damage has been reported.
