(ABM FN-Dow Jones) Although the whole of the Netherlands is now on holiday, investors can still get to work next week. The stock market agenda is filled with quarterly figures, macro data and an interest rate decision from the US Federal Reserve.
Monday starts the week with the quarterly figures of Philips. Tuesday according to Randstad, KPN and Wereldhave. Before the fair it is also Besi’s turn, and after the fair it’s fellow sector member ASMI.
On Wednesday, Aperam and Vopak will open the books before the fair and AMG and Core Lab after the fair.
Thursday is the busiest day of the week with Arcadis, ArcelorMittal, Fugro, Intertrust, Ordina and Royal Dutch Shell, among others. Euronext and Vastned will be added after the close of trading. CM.com also publishes figures.
Things will calm down again on Friday, although WDP, Air France-KLM and Brunel will inform their shareholders of their quarterly performance.
Internationally, the agenda is also well filled. The main focus will be on what the tech funds have to say. It’s Tesla’s turn on Monday evening and Alphabet and Microsoft follow a day later. On Wednesday it will be Apple, Facebook, PayPal and Qualcomm’s turn. On Friday, oil investors will see what Exxon Mobil and Chevron have to say.
The macroeconomic agenda is also well filled. On Monday, the market will look at Ifo business confidence in Germany. On Tuesday, orders for durable goods, Case Shiller house prices and consumer confidence will come from America.
German and French consumer confidence will then follow on Wednesday and the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision is due. It was the turn of the European Central Bank last week and it is aiming for a longer loose monetary policy, according to economist Bert Colijn.
“The question of what will happen in the spring of next year with the bond purchase programs, PEPP and APP, has not yet been answered. We will have to wait until the autumn for that,” said Colijn.
However, the pressure on the Fed to start tightening is much greater.
On Thursday there is also another confidence figure, then from the eurozone, and there is a German inflation figure. In the afternoon, according to the US aid applications, a growth figure is on the agenda, just like a housing figure.
Growth figures from France and Germany and the eurozone as a whole will follow on Friday. Inflation figures are also available from France and the eurozone. In the US, the income and expenses of Joe Sixpack are being looked at and the University of Michigan is coming up with a figure on consumer confidence.
