Petition for a Peter R. de Vriesstraat signed almost 1400 times | Inland

The crime journalist was shot in Lange Leidsedwarsstraat on 6 July, after which he died on 15 July from his injuries.

Wouter de Vries, the younger brother of the crime journalist, called on Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema to name a street after De Vries in the talk show Humberto last week. He also said he hopes there will be a monument to his brother. An online petition to create a monument or memorial site for De Vries was signed more than 700 times on Sunday evening.

Amstelveen

On Saturday, Alderman Herbert Raat (VVD) van Amstelveen told AmstelveenZ.nl that his municipality is open to assigning Peter R. de Vries a street name, if a request is submitted. “Peter R. de Vries has lived in Amstelveen for a long time: we knew him and he grew up here. I need not explain that he was a special resident. Of course we are open to that,” says Raat.

The online condolence register condoleance.nl for Peter R. de Vries, which was set up on 15 July, was signed more than 37,500 times on Sunday evening.
