For at least three hours, a group of 10 citizens have been at the Asunción Red Cross vaccination center, awaiting responses to the loss of their vaccination cards that they handed out upon arrival. Guillermo Fernández, the grandson of one of those affected, said that the nurses warned him about the loss but, despite repeated complaints, they did not provide any solution.
He said that they were promised that they would correct what happened but after three hours and many complaints, they did not obtain any solution. The young man commented that those affected were mostly seniors who had received AstraZeneca and also several others who were vaccinated with Moderna.
The young man regretted the poor organization of this immunization post, said that the vaccination progresses very slowly and that they take too long for each person, which makes the line accumulate quickly.
“We have been here since eight in the morning for the second dose of my mother, 85 years old. There is a world of people of the same age, waiting, but only one nurse to apply. People come in who even came after us ”, also lamented another of those affected, Yolanda Enciso.

Unlike other exclusive second dose days, this Friday there was a very important flow of people interested in receiving the second dose. Crowds of people were registered in several positions and it was reported that the elderly were exposed to long and uncomfortable waits due to the lack of chairs in many places.
Dr. Héctor Castro, director of the Expanded Immunization Program, admitted the problems and promised that instructions have already been given to organize people into two groups, to prioritize older adults first.
Likewise, he said that the influx of people increased notably as a result of the fear generated after the announcement of the entry of the delta variant to our country. He said that older adults were not coming to complete their scheme but now, due to the fear generated, they are more aware of the need to receive the two doses to complete immunity.
