If you have ever faced kidney stones, you know what a painful experience it is to eliminate them. The best way to get rid of them is sex, scientists say.
A recent study conducted in Turkey shows that sex, three to four times a week, leads to the spontaneous elimination of kidney stones, reports Medical Daily.
In the study, 75 subjects were divided into three groups: one was recommended to have sex at least three times a week, another was given tamsulosin, a drug that is commonly used in men with an enlarged prostate. but which also promotes the removal of kidney stones, and the latter has received another standard drug for this condition.
Two weeks after starting the study, it was observed that 26 of the 31 participants in the first group, who had practiced “therapeutic sex”, got rid of kidney stones. In the second group, 10 of the 21 participants had good results, as well as 8 of the 23 subjects in the third group.
The size of a kidney stone removed was, on average, 4.7 millimeters.
What do you risk if you have kidney stones
A previous study, published in the Annals of Emergency Medicine, compared the effects of tamsulosin versus placebo in treating both small and large kidney stones. It turned out that time is an effective treatment for small kidney stones, but in the case of larger ones (5-10 millimeters) it is necessary to administer the drug mentioned.
In the United States, for example, more than a million people go to the emergency room because of kidney stones.
