Estonia will provide assistance free of charge. The wire is needed to strengthen the border against the flow of migrants.
The Estonian authorities are ready to provide Lithuania with 100 kilometers of barbed wire for the construction of a fence on the border with Belarus. The border is being strengthened due to the large flow of illegal migrants. This is reported on website Ministry of Defense of Estonia.
“Lithuania is our close ally, and our task is to immediately support them in this crisis. As a first measure, the Defense Forces will allocate 100 kilometers of a barrier wire so that Lithuania can accelerate the strengthening of its border,” said Estonian Defense Minister Kalle Laanet.
The Lithuanian side previously turned to the neighboring state for help. The wire will be provided free of charge.
Previously it was reported that barbed wire has run out in Lithuania because of the strengthening of the border with Belarus. The European Union is ready to provide financial assistance to Lithuania in this matter.
