According to the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass), in the last day there were 108,732 new cases and 1,324 deaths associated with the coronavirus.

The number of new cases only fell below the 115,228 registered on June 23 and exceeds the 100,158 on March 25.

Health authorities indicated that the number of infections on Friday was due to the inclusion of infections that had not been counted in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The more than 108,000 infected tripled the daily average of infections in the last week, which was 36,000 daily cases.

Brazil adds 19,632,443 confirmed cases and totals 548,340 deaths since the first infection, on February 26, 2020, and since the first death, on March 12 of the same year.

Despite the almost 109,000 infections, the pandemic in Brazil has been on a downward curve since the last week of June, specified the federal laboratory Oswaldo Cruz Foundation.

The South American giant emerged from the hospital collapse registered in March, April and part of June, and in most cities the return to face-to-face classes was announced as of August.

Regarding vaccination against the coronavirus, Brazil has applied 130.4 million vaccines, with 93.6 million supplied in the first dose and 36.7 million in the second or single.

To date 36,533,170 people in Brazil are fully immunized, which is equivalent to 17.25 percent of the population.
