the desperate hope of Ben’s mother, who passed away 30 years ago

It was July 24, 1991 when Ben Needham, just 21 months old, disappeared from the garden of his grandparents’ house, in Iraklis, a village on the island of Kos, Greece. We had left our mother in the care of our grandparents, but around 2.30 pm they realized that the little one was no longer in the garden.

The searches begin immediately, the fields in the area are sifted, neighbors, family friends are questioned, ma no one has seen little Ben.

From that moment the family habits are taken into consideration, but nothing emerges. There is talk of kidnapping, pedophilia, murder. The hypotheses are many from that of kidnapping for the purpose of illegal adoption, up to kidnapping by nomads.

A turning point occurs in 2016 when a citizen of the Greek island tells the police that Kostantinos Barkas, who died the year before, he would have confided to him that he had accidentally killed Ben with his excavator, while working on land near the Needhams’ home.
The man at this point would have hidden the corpse of little Ben.

I want to believe he is still alive, there is no evidence to say otherwise. I still hope the South Yorkshire Police are wrong, ”said Kerry Needham, who is about to confront the sad anniversary of the death of her son.

Kerry also has another 27-year-old daughter, Leighanna, who gave her two granddaughters Hermione and Aurora aged seven and three. “Thirty years have gone by without doing anything in my life, other than having my amazing daughter.
