Slovak hockey forward Róbert Lantoši headed to the highest Swedish competition after two years in the overseas AHL. He agreed on a contract for the 2021/2022 season with the Rögle BK club, which informed about it on the official website.
“We have watched Robert during the past two seasons in North America and in the Slovak national team. He knows what it’s like to play in Sweden, because he lived in Västeras for five years. We are happy that he will take another step in his hockey progress in our club. He is a fast striker who likes to shoot and has offensive and creative abilities, “said Rögle BK general manager Chris Abbott.
For the 25-year-old winger, this is a return to Sweden after four seasons he spent in the AHL and before that in the Slovak extra league. In the years 2012 – 2017 he joined the youth, respectively. in lower Swedish competitions.
“I’ve been in contact with Chris (Abbott) and I feel he wants to give me a chance. I’ve always liked Sweden. For the past three seasons, I’ve been working on my defensive game to be more versatile. He started the 2020/2021 season in HK Nitra, after the start of overseas competitions he joined the Providence Bruins team in the AHL. In Nitra, he scored 18 points in 18 matches, and scored 15 points in Providence in 25 matches. At the end of the season, he represented the Slovak Republic at the World Championships in Riga. He scored 1 goal in 8 matches, to which he added 5 assists, creating a productive attack with Peter Cehlárik and Marek Hrivík.
