French President Emmanuel Macron has changed his mobile phone and phone number in light of concerns about Pegasus spyware, the Elysee Palace announced today, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

This is one of the first concrete measures the French leader is taking after it became clear that Pegasus spyware may have been used against him.

“The president has several phone numbers. Changing his cell phone number does not mean he has been spied on. It’s just an extra security measure,” French government spokesman Gabriel Attal told Reuters.

Attal pointed out that additional measures are currently being taken for the security of the French leader in order to be able to give an adequate response to possible threats.
