a new biodiversity area rue de Lamouly

In Anglet, a space reserved for nature has been set up on rue de Lamouly.

A new biodiversity area has been set up in the Hardoy district in Anglet (Pyrénées-Atlantiques). It is a green setting of 4,500 m2 located rue Lamouly. One part is occupied by a protected area comprising two ponds and a thalweg (line of intersection of the two lateral slopes of a valley). The rest is made up of an area accessible to the public. A grassy path, a pond, a wet grove and an orchard have been built there. There are also various reception facilities for wildlife (nesting boxes, insect hotel, aromatic spiral, stone pyramid, etc.).

The biodiversity area was inaugurated on June 30, 2021. It serves, first of all, to absorb, purify and retain water during severe weather. It is also a refuge for protected species, in addition to being a place to raise awareness of ecological issues. Its rehabilitation, which lasted four weeks, was carried out by the City of Anglet.

The project is part of the compensatory measures linked to the transformation of the Maharin wetland into an eco-district. Marie-Laure Guillemin, environmental technician at the town hall of Anglet, explained through a publication from the city that the Lamouly biodiversity area compensated for what could not be avoided or reduced during the phase of site of this project.
