India Records First Human Death Due To Avian Flu

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A boy, 11 years old, in India died from the virus bird flu or H5N1. It was the first case of death caused by the H5N1 virus.

Pemerintah India menjelaskan anak laki-laki itu dilarikan ke All India Institute of Medical Sciences di New Delhi, India, pada 2 Juli 2021. Dia meninggal pada Selasa, 20 Juli 2021 telah mengalami kegagalan multi-organ.

Identitas pasien laki-laki itu tidak di publikasi. Tenaga kesehatan yang merawat pasien tersebut dan keluarga pasien, sekarang sedang menjalani karantina mandiri. Otoritas pun melakukan pelacakan close-contact.

The boy is known to be from the region of Haryana, a state in northern India. The Department of Animal Husbandry in India said it had not found any more cases of bird flu, other than this first fatal victim. However, surveillance has been increased.

In the last two decades, in India there have been dozens of cases bird flu, but everything can be controlled. During that time, there have been no reports of bird flu in humans.
