Rear Admiral Vadim Skin, head of Russia’s Center for Military Reconciliation in Syria, said four Israeli F-16 fighter jets targeted the facility southeast of Aleppo in Monday’s strike.
Skin said seven of the eight missiles launched by Israeli fighter jets were shot down by Syrian air defense units using Russian-supplied Pantsyr-S and Buk-M2 air defense systems.

“One missile damaged the scientific research center building in Safira,” he said.

A Syrian military official earlier said in remarks carried by state news agency SANA that Israel carried out air strikes in Aleppo province on Monday evening.

He said Syrian air defenses shot down most of the missiles in the strike that took place just before midnight.
