Brazilian Luísa Sonza fights sexism with her music and criticizes Bolsonaro

Mexico City, Jul 21 (EFE) .- With a harsh criticism of the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, the singer Luísa Sonza presented her album “Doce 22” on Wednesday, a material that collects all her strengths and vulnerabilities, with which seeks to combat sexism.

“Everything in Brazil is chaos, our president is shit, he is the worst thing that has happened to our country and he is not doing anything for us (regarding the pandemic). We are begging for help, he does not even wear a mask”, said the singer in a virtual press conference with international media.

Sonza lived 2020 not only wrapped up in the problems that the pandemic brought. While achieving all the goals he had always dreamed of, part of his life fell apart amid criticism, insults and even death threats as a result of a love breakup.

“(‘Twelve 22’) is an album about my life, it has many references to what I experienced last year because my life was chaos. I broke up with my husband and started dating someone else and the press started inventing things like that I had cheated on my husband, “she said.

The impact that the 22-year-old girl had at the time, motivated her to write her second album with which she completely distanced herself from her first musical work.

In it she explores her strengths, the vision she has for her future, but also talks about the weaknesses and pains that have made her what she is now.

Her album begins with “Intere $$ eira”, a tough song in which she critically exposes how difficult it has been to be a brave woman in a macho world that crushes women for their intelligence and talent.

“(To inspire other women) is the goal of the album, even for myself. The first three words of the album are very strong (whore, vagabond and interested), they are words that strong women listen to and it is very important to empower these words for us “, he answered Efe.

These words were the same that Sonza has received throughout her career and that hurt her for a long time.

The pop and electronic album was produced and written by Sonza and the young woman also served as director of the videos that have emerged from it. He anticipated that there are still a few to see.

Pabllo Vittar, Anitta, Ludmilla and Lulu Santos are some of the artists that are part of the Brazilian’s album and the collaboration with the Puerto Rican singer Mariah Angeliq is on the horizon.

Her album is part of the current Brazilian scene and the singer is convinced that in the same way that music in Spanish is now reaching the whole world, that of her country will have its turn.

“It is very contagious, strong and has its own particular sound, I am sure that Brazilian music will soon be around the world as the best music,” he responded to Efe.

Regarding the dreams she is currently pursuing, the singer says: “I want to be one of the best singers in the world.”
