NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – After the disappointing start to the week, share prices in New York recovered somewhat on Tuesday. In early trading, the Dow Jones Industrial rose by 0.86 percent to 34 253 points. The rapid spread of the delta variant of the corona virus had triggered concerns among investors about the further economic development the day before. The Dow was down more than two percent. For the market-wide S&P 500 it was last up by 0.58 percent to 4283 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 increased by 0.20 percent to 145 78 points.

The experts at the US bank JPMorgan consider investors’ fear of the pandemic to end to the economic recovery being exaggerated. In their view, the latest economic data from the USA and Asia point less to a downward trend and more to a more sustainable development. They raised the target for the S&P 500 at the end of the year from 4400 to 4600 meters. / Bek / he
