As of today, owners of solar panels with a digital meter can apply for a retroactive premium, which must compensate for their financial loss after a ruling by the Constitutional Court.

At the beginning of this year, the court annulled the scheme with the virtual reversing counter: this also gave owners of solar panels with a digital meter the right to the old system, with a reversing counter and a prosumer rate.
After the destruction, the Flemish government decided to entitle the owners to a one-off compensation, which should guarantee a return of 5 percent over 15 years. The digital counter to request the retroactive investment premium opens today, Tuesday 20 July.
Only those who already have a digital meter and installed solar panels before 2021 are eligible. Payment should be made this year for all premiums applied for before mid-November. The closing date for an application is January 19, 2022.
If you still have an analog meter and installed solar panels before 2021, you can apply for the premium up to six months after the digital meter has been installed and until December 31, 2025 at the latest. However, the premium decreases every year pending the installation of a digital meter.
