TEL AVIV – Heads of state, activists and journalists: no one is safe from the spyware of the controversial Israeli NSO Group. The company, located in a nondescript building in the seaside town of Herzliya, is now seen by critics as a worldwide threat to democracy. A data breach would show that a large number of countries are using the software to closely monitor their opponents.
