CD Tenerife will start the league on the weekend of August 13 – 15 | Radio Club Tenerife | Present

One more year, CSD has had to mediate between the Spanish Football Federation and La Liga for the next season’s schedule. In the end, Albert Soler, general director of the CSD, manages that both parties reach an agreement and LaLiga will start the weekend of August 15, as the clubs wanted.

Soler has received emissaries from Rubiales (Andreu Camps, Tomás González Cueto and Alfredo Olivares) and from Tebas (Carlos del Campo, Luis Gil and Roberto Bermúdez) to seek consensus on the discrepancies regarding the next season’s calendar. The management, after reaching a prior agreement with the AFE players union in previous months, presented a calendar proposal a few weeks ago to the RFEF that it rejected and that forced the CSD, once again, to meet them to achieve consensus. So it was. From the Government, they emphasize that the meeting proceeded in a “cordial manner” and there was a “good disposition to dialogue.”

The League wanted the weekend of August 15 and the RFEF later. The Federation wants that weekend to be exclusively saved for that match and not be shared with the League match, as happened the season that has just ended. given the tight schedule. In the end, La Liga had to give in at that point, as the RFEF did with the start date of the season, so that no other match is played on the weekend of the Cup final. And a third conflict was in the games of December 31. The CSD has made the decision that there will be football on New Year’s Eve, but it will be only three games and they must be between geographically close teams. “Only the teams that must travel minimally will be able to compete, in order to respect their return home in time and form for the celebration of New Year’s Eve.”

It is established that the last day will be played on December 21 – 22 and the competition does not resume until New Year’s Eve. Of course, that day after Christmas will have to be with matches between geographically close teams (a condition that will be entered for the calendar draw). The draw for the First and Second Division calendars will take place once the playoff for promotion to La Liga Santander has concluded.
