As we have already informed you, Mercedes-Benz plans to abandon the development of internal combustion engines by the end of this decade – this is the new development strategy of the concern, which will be officially announced later this week.
Mercedes-Benz’s new development strategy implies an accelerated transition to cars with electric power tracts, as a result of which the brand wants to gradually abandon most models with internal combustion engines by 2030.
What is interesting for our market, however, is that the implementation of the program will depend on the specific markets and the respective development of the charging infrastructure. In the absence of the necessary level of power plants in the country, Mercedes-Benz will not stop selling cars with gasoline and diesel engines.
Nevertheless, by the end of this decade, an electric version will appear on every model of the German brand. We will remind that this year Mercedes-Benz has already presented some of its serial electric models in our country, but given the slow construction of charging infrastructure in our country, fans of Mercedes with internal combustion engines can rest assured. These will be sold in Bulgaria for a long time.
According to Automotive News Europe, on July 22, Daimler CEO Ola Kalenius will give details of the new development strategy, announcements the development of several new platforms for electrical models and its own operating system. Probably the top manager will also talk about the possible deadlines for withdrawal from the model line of cars with traditional engines.
