Scientology Volunteer Ministers in Italy ran a two-week blood donation initiative to celebrate World Blood Donor Day. It began in Rome on June 12th and was continued by volunteer ministers in Scientology churches and missions across central and northern Italy who supported the initiative.
According to the World Health Organization, “Safe blood and blood products and their transfusions are a critical aspect of care and public health. They save millions of lives and improve the health and quality of life for many patients every day. The need for blood is universal, but access to blood is.” for all who need it, it is not. The shortage of blood reserves is particularly acute in developing countries “.
Under the motto “A gesture of love that saves lives”, more than 100 volunteer Scientology ministers took part in a blood donation campaign for AVIS – Italy’s Association of Voluntary Blood Donors (Associazione Volontari Italiani del Sangue).
The tour began on June 12th in the Church of Scientology in Rome and visited Churches of Scientology, missions and groups in Florence, Viareggio, Brescia, Monza, Novara, Bologna, Como, Ravenna and Pordenone, with a final stop on June 30th in Church of Scientology Milan. Another team in Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, also took part in the project. A mobile AVIS blood donation center was set up at the Church of Scientology in Rome and Milan. In the other cities, volunteers donated blood in the local AVIS centers.
In addition to the June blood drive, Scientology Volunteer Ministers in Italy have been helping their communities by providing much-needed services throughout the pandemic. They set up guidelines, and delivered groceries and recipes to sick and elderly neighbors who were quarantined at home. They disinfected health centers, churches and public institutions.
Volunteer ministers from every Scientology church and mission in Italy distributed thousands of copies of informational brochures to local businesses and went door to door to ensure their communities understand and implement effective preventive measures to keep themselves and their families healthy .
