Real Madrid stumbled in the second game of pre-season, welcoming the 2021/2022 season. Facing Rayo Vallecano, Los Blancos were held 1-1.

In that match, coach Carlo Ancelotti played a lot of young players. Andriy Lunin, Alvaro Odriozola, Victor Chust, Nacho, Marcelo, Antonio Blanco, Isco, Martin Odegaard, Lucas Vazquez, Sergio Arribas and Juanmi Latasa played by the Italian coach.
Isco had brought Madrid a 1-0 lead through a penalty, after Juanmi Latasa was violated. However, Vallecano could level the score at 1-1, thanks to an own goal by Victor Chust, who failed to anticipate Alvaro Garcia’s pass.
For Real Madrid, this is the first red result in this pre-season. Previously, Los Blancos could win 3-1 over Fuenlabrada. The match against Vallecano is also part of Madrid’s two-week program of preparation for the 2021/2022 season.
Furthermore, Real Madrid have two more test matches. Against Rangers in Glasgow, 25 July, and face AC Milan in Klagenfurt, Austria, 8 August.
Ancelotti, who was appointed as Zinedine Zidane’s replacement, asked Madrid to play with more intensity. Overall, he assesses the squad, which has not been fully assembled, is doing well.
