UEFA Champions League. Legia Warszawa met a possible rival in the third round

The players led by Czesław Michniewicz in the second round were drawn in a draw, thanks to which the Flora Tallinn team became their rival. The players from Warsaw are the absolute favorites of the tie against the Estonians and it is very likely that they will play in the third qualifying round.

If Legia advances to the third round, they will secure their game at least in the group stage of the League of the European Conferences. This is why the issue of promotion to this level of elimination is so important for the Polish champion.

In the event of promotion to the third round of the Champions League qualifying rounds, Legia’s opponent will be the winner of the tie-game Dinamo Zagreb – Omonia Nicosia. The Croatians will be the favorite, while the champions of the country faced the Cypriots a year ago. At that time, Henning Berg’s team was on top of Łazienkowska Street.

The first game will be played in Zagreb or Nicosia on August 3rd or 4th. A possible rematch in Warsaw is to take place on August 10 or 11. UEFA will announce the details of the schedule in the near future.

Before the draw, the fans hoped that they would be able to draw a pair of Slovan Bratislava – Young Boys Bern. The Slovaks and the Swiss are not regular participants of the Champions League group stage, which is why Legia fans hoped for luck and the drawing of this pair. Ultimately, however, fate wanted otherwise.

Regardless of the fate of the Dinamo – Omonia tie, Legia faces an extremely difficult challenge. The Croatian champion in recent years has been a regular participant in the group stage of the Champions League, where he has already managed to surprise the favorites. Omonia, on the other hand, is a team that has already managed to prove that it can neutralize the advantages of Legia. However, Dinamo will be the favorite in the aggregate of the second round.

It is also worth noting that in the event of the promotion of Legia and Dinam to the third round and the victory of the players led by Czesław Michniewicz, it is the Polish champions who will take over the Dinam coefficient before the decisive tie for promotion to the Champions League group stage. For now, however, it is a distant prospect, and Legia players have to focus on the tie against Flora Tallinn.

The first meeting between Dinam and Omonia will take place on Tuesday at 20:00, and will be led by Polish judge Daniel Stefański. The match will show which team is closer to promotion to the third round, where it can play against Legia.
