The stage of the Colon Theater hosted this Saturday, the 8th, the students of 17 schools in A Coruña, Betanzos, Cambre and Culleredo who will present activities and scientific experiments to the participating students and teachers.
The presentations of each center were happening individually on stage, in three time blocks to respect capacity and protocols in a day that ran normally.
From there a special program of A Vivir las Rías, presented by Teba Chacón, on the occasion of this Science day, with the intervention of the mayor of A Coruña, Ines Rey, who expressed the importance of continuing the science festival in a new edition adapted to health circumstances and recalled that culture and science saved us during the pandemic.
“This is a must-see on the city’s calendar, and even more so when current events confirm that we cannot put aside research and scientific dissemination and that administrations must promote science from school.”
The mayor also announced in her speech on the stage of the Teatro Colón that the prizes to the participants of the next editions of the Day of Science in the Street will bear the name of Javier Novelle, alma mater of this celebration in A Coruña, died a few months ago.
The special edition of A Vivir Las Rías was also attended by students from IES David Buján de Cambre, Franciscanas and Eusebio da Guarda: Noa, Carlos Fernández Maceiras and Marcos Grobas, who explained the proposals that they prepared as a group for the appointment in the Colón and showed their curiosity and desire to learn, in addition to Genaro García, director of the IES Rosalía Mera and Jose Antonio López, teacher of the Eirís International School, recognized that this course has been complicated, remembering the merit of the educational communities, therefore, they affirm that initiatives such as Science Day are very much needed this year for students to regain the illusion after the effort made.
