They sue a NY prosecutor in relation to the video of a teenager murdered in 2019 – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – The family of the teenager who was stabbed to death in 2019 sued a New York prosecutor’s office on the grounds that it was wrong to share the video taken by the killer with the media.

Bianca Devins estate sued Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara in federal court on Thursday, reported the Observer-Dispatch de Utica. An attorney for McNamara and the county said the complaint is unfounded.

Devins, 17, was murdered in July 2019 after returning to Utica with Brandon Clark from a concert in New York City. Clark admitted to slitting Devins’ throat and then have posted photos of her body online. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 years to life in March.

The lawsuit says McNamara and his office shared a video Clark took of him having sex with Devins and then killing her with outlets such as the web. A&E, the program CBS “48 Hours” and a blogger. The lawsuit called it a “spreading of tobacco and child pornography from a 17-year-old murder victim.”

McNamara declined to comment. David Walsh, an attorney for McNamara and the county, said McNamara’s office officials told him they were following the law for public records requests made by the media.
